Cannot register new server

Hi,
I have a SQL developer edition. I cannont register the server.
the error message i get is that
"the server does not exist or Openconncet"
Ray
hi
just check if the server is up and running.
type "telnet <server name> 1433" in the command prompt and check.
If the window waits for responce, then that means that there is SQL server
available and can listen to the response

|||Also, the rest of that message is "or Access Denied." Make sure either you
have added the appropriate Windows Login accounts as a SQL Server login, or
that you use SQL Secruity when you first register the server in EM.
You can always change it latter.
By default, the Builtin\Administrators group is added as a system admin.
Log on the host as a local administration. You can then connect and add the
added security.

Anthony Thomas
